Ordinary Time is split in two by the Lent and Easter season. When the Ordinary Time readings resume the day after Pentecost (usually around the 7th to 10th week of Ordinary Time), a week of readings must occasionally be skipped, so that the liturgical year can end after the 34th Week of the Year. The 34th Sunday of the Year (Christ the King) must always occur on the last Sunday before the start of Advent, which is the Sunday nearest November 30.
